In the sulfuric acid plant, the liquid level measuring instrument is generally used to measure the sulfuric acid level of several stations in the first suction tank, the second suction tank, the underground tank and the finished sulfuric acid storage tank. In the actual choice, we know which ultrasonic level gauge or radar level gauge is more suitable for measuring the level of sulfuric acid, so we are hesitant to choose the instrument.  

1. The working principle of radar level gauge and ultrasonic level gauge   

The antenna of the radar level gauge emits a very narrow microwave pulse, which travels in space at the speed of light and hits the surface of the measured medium. Part of its energy is reflected back. The time interval between the pulse and the received pulse on the same day and the time between the antenna and the The distance to the surface of the measured medium is proportional. Due to the extremely high propagation speed of electromagnetic waves, the distance between the transmitted pulse and the received pulse is small (on the order of nanoseconds), which is difficult to confirm. The high-frequency radar level gauge adopts special related demodulation technology, which can accurately identify the time interval between the transmitted pulse and the received pulse, and the distance to the surface of the measured medium.  

The working principle of the ultrasonic level gauge is that the transducer (probe) of the ultrasonic level gauge emits high-frequency ultrasonic pulses. When it encounters the measured liquid surface, the sound wave is reflected back, and the transducer (probe) receives and converts it into an electrical signal. From the transmission of the ultrasonic wave to the reception, the time T is proportional to the distance S from the transducer (probe) to the measured liquid level, so that the liquid level height can be calculated. The relationship between the distance value S, the speed of sound C, and the transmission time T can be expressed by the formula: S=CT/2.

Second, the radar level gauge is more suitable for sulfuric acid level measurement than the ultrasonic level gauge

According to the working principles of ultrasonic level gauges and radar level gauges, there are many similar parts between them, and the ability to resist sulfuric acid corrosion is not much different. This is also an important reason for the choice of many meters.

Both dilute sulfuric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid have acid mist and are volatile. When the sulphuric acid pump is running, the surface of the sulphuric acid will produce different degrees of foam. These factors will affect the acoustic performance of the ultrasonic level gauge. In this regard, feedback from a large number of users shows that ultrasonic level gauges at home and abroad are not ideal for measuring the level of sulfuric acid. Since the electromagnetic wave of the radar level gauge is less affected by gas and dust, the radar level gauge, especially the high frequency radar level gauge, can be used to measure the level of sulfuric acid. In contrast, the measurement in the radar level gauge is more accurate. The level gauge is more suitable for sulfuric acid level measurement than the ultrasonic level gauge.  

In practice, although the radar level gauge has a good effect in measuring the level of sulfuric acid, it is most commonly used in measuring the sulfuric acid level in the first suction tank, the sulfuric acid level in the second suction tank, and the sulfuric acid rot float in the underground tank. , This is because the price of radar level gauge is relatively expensive, and the anti-corrosion float level gauge is more cost-effective.  

However, few sulfuric acid plants use anticorrosive float level gauges to measure the level of sulfuric acid storage tanks. This is because the liquid impact of the anticorrosive float level gauge's guide rod in a higher tank is not suitable for use in a sulfuric acid tank. Most sulfuric acid plants use radar level gauges to measure the sulfuric acid level.
